These glass beads are manufactured from high-quality soda-lime-silica glass using a high-temperature melting and atomization process. They are available in two main categories: shot-blasting grade and road-marking (reflective) grade. The beads are perfectly spherical with no sharp edges and possess a Mohs hardness of 4.5–5.0.
Shot-blasting grade beads are used for surface treatment, deburring, matte finishing, and surface stress strengthening of metal components; the spherical shape prevents cutting or scratching the substrate, resulting in a uniform, fine, matte-lustre finish. Reflective grade beads feature a stable, high refractive index; when used as an additive in road-marking paint, they significantly enhance nighttime visibility.
The products undergo multi-stage screening to remove broken particles and oversized impurities, and are available in a full range of sizes (20–320 mesh). They can be recycled and reused after simple screening.
Important Note: This product is an industrial material; safety goggles and dust masks must be worn during handling. It is not a toy for children.
Product Details
· Solid, transparent, perfectly spherical particles: Formed via high-temperature atomization, the vast majority of particles are standard spheres; broken fragments have been removed through screening. They are colorless and transparent throughout, offering excellent clarity.
· Strict particle size grading and high uniformity: Subjected to multiple rounds of vibratory screening to remove broken beads, dust, and oversized impurities, ensuring consistent particle size within each batch.
· Two distinct categories—Peening Grade and Road-Reflective Grade: The Peening Grade emphasizes particle integrity, while the Reflective Grade features strictly controlled refractive indices to meet night-time visibility requirements for road markings.
· High chemical purity with minimal impurities: Made from soda-lime glass with negligible heavy metal content (such as iron); occasional tiny black specks are normal residue from raw materials and do not constitute a quality defect.
· Stable optical refractive index (Reflective Grade): The refractive index of these road-grade microbeads is precisely controlled to ensure strong reflectivity under vehicle headlights at night.
· Moderate hardness (Mohs 4.5–5.0): Softer than corundum or garnet abrasives, making them suitable for precision workpieces where excessive surface cutting must be avoided.
