Our road marking glass beads are manufactured from high-quality soda-lime glass. The glass is melted in a high-temperature furnace and atomized into perfectly spherical microspheres, then annealed, screened and cleaned. Each bead features a smooth, clear surface with no sharp edges and no internal bubbles.
The working principle is retroreflection: light from vehicle headlights enters the glass bead, is refracted and reflected inside the sphere, and returns to the driver's eyes, making road lines visible at night and in rainy conditions. Refractive index is approx. 1.5, and high roundness ensures stable optical performance, so the line keeps uniform and continuous brightness.
Available in multiple particle size grades commonly used in the market. Coarser grades are mainly applied as drop-on beads sprayed onto the surface of thermoplastic markings to build instant retroreflection; finer grades are premixed into thermoplastic, solvent-based and waterborne marking paints to provide long-term reflection as the marking wears.
The beads have high compressive strength and excellent weather resistance, resistant to abrasion, freeze-thaw and road salt corrosion. They are widely used for highway, municipal road, airport runway, parking lot and crosswalk markings.
Small retail bags suit contractors for local projects. Bulk ton-bag supply serves marking paint manufacturers, road construction companies and government infrastructure projects. Large-volume orders support custom particle size grading, custom packing and private-label service.
Product Details
· Solid, transparent, perfectly spherical particles: Formed via high-temperature atomization, the vast majority of particles are standard spheres; broken fragments have been removed through screening. They are colorless and transparent throughout, offering excellent clarity.
· Strict particle size grading and high uniformity: Subjected to multiple rounds of vibratory screening to remove broken beads, dust, and oversized impurities, ensuring consistent particle size within each batch.
· Two distinct categories—Peening Grade and Road-Reflective Grade: The Peening Grade emphasizes particle integrity, while the Reflective Grade features strictly controlled refractive indices to meet night-time visibility requirements for road markings.
· High chemical purity with minimal impurities: Made from soda-lime glass with negligible heavy metal content (such as iron); occasional tiny black specks are normal residue from raw materials and do not constitute a quality defect.
· Stable optical refractive index (Reflective Grade): The refractive index of these road-grade microbeads is precisely controlled to ensure strong reflectivity under vehicle headlights at night.
· Moderate hardness (Mohs 4.5–5.0): Softer than corundum or garnet abrasives, making them suitable for precision workpieces where excessive surface cutting must be avoided.
